Terry McGowan has coached over 35 seasons of youth and high school softball, youth baseball and Middle School basketball in Carmel and Carmel Valley, California. He has amassed a ton of great information on how to build or improve a girls sports program and whether you are just starting out or have coached for years there will be something useful for everyone in attendance.
The clinics are based on building better kids/players through sport . . . working on fundamentals . . . and improving kids confidence and self-esteem. Winning is not emphasized, in fact, rarely mentioned in the course of a season . . . but success on and off the field are obtained through using the tried and true methods the clinics cover. As head coach of the Carmel High Padres softball program from 1997-2006, the Padres Varsity compiled an overall record of 185-90. From 2002 thru 2006, with most of the program in place, Carmel was 74-8 in the Mission Trail Athletic League, capturing three championships and two second place finishes. The Padres also had eight straight Central Coast Section playoff apperances, including four straight Semifinals. The three years from 2004-06 saw Carmel's Padres ranked in the year-end Top Ten of Cal-Hi Sports Division Four California Statewide rankings.
